Surgical Management of Chronic Subdural Hematoma: Short Communication
نویسندگان
چکیده
Chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) is a common neurosurgical pathology associated with prior traumatic brain injury (TBI) and older age that is often complicated by antiplatelet or anticoagulant therapies. cSDH often results from the liquefaction of a previous acute subdural hematoma that accompanies TBI. The incidence of cSDH will likely increase over the next 25 years, placing a burden on health care costs. As such, a simple, inexpensive treatment option is desirable. In this short communication, we describe recent data and different techniques that are available for treating cSDH.

Correlation between level of consciousness and some cT findings in chronic subdural hematoma
There is little information concerning the correlation between clinical and CT findings in chronic subdural hematoma . This study was performed on 69 hematoma patients to find correlations between CT findings and GCS. Ninety one percent of patients were male and 9℅ were female. The average age was 63. In 87℅ of cases, the lesions was unilateral and in the remaining 13℅ , it was bilateral. The r...

متن کاملPostoperative hemorrhage in an elderly patient with a glioblastoma multiform and a calcified chronic subdural hematoma
BACKGROUND Cases with brain tumor and subdural hematoma are rare; surgical management of the elderly patients with a glioblastoma multiform (GBM) and a chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) can be intractable. CASE DESCRIPTION We report a 77-year-old patient, who had a left front lobe GBM and a giant, calcified, left frontoparietaloccipitotemporal CSDH. The patient recovered well from anesthesia a...
متن کاملFactors Affecting Postoperative Recurrence of Chronic Subdural Hematoma
Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is a relatively common disease, especially in the geriatric population, frequently encountered in neurosurgical practice. Formation of the outer membrane with an interior containing hyperosmolar blood collection causes development of CSDH, and the outer membrane has abnormally permeable microcapillaries leading to accumulation of exudation from the macrocapillar...
متن کاملWorking toward rational and evidence-based treatment of chronic subdural hematoma.
Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is one of the most common neurosurgical conditions that can usually be treated with relatively simple and effective surgical procedures. It affects primarily the elderly, a rising population worldwide. Together with improved awareness among the medical profession and greater access to modern imaging facilities, the incidence of CSDH is set to rise significantly....
